Mutton Bustin'

We had a wonderful visit to the ranch in early April. Ryan's Uncles & cousins were there for the annual spring turkey hunt. It was great visiting with everyone and catching up. Jack loved going around the ranch & helping the hunters bring in their gobblers. Ellie enjoyed hanging out in her exersaucer in the kitchen, watching people come & go. The highlight of the trip was that Jack got to mutton bust! Ever since the Houston rodeo, he has wanted to ride a sheep. Grandpa Texas saved some of his lambs and took them to the Sonora rodeo arena so that Jack could experience mutton bustin'. Sterling arranged for all the protective equipment and recruited some cowboys to help out. At first, Jack was a little nervous. Ryan had him practice falling in the dirt, and he realized that it would be a soft landing for falling and gained some confidence. He rode 3 lambs and did an awesome job! He even said "ok boys" before each ride just like the famous bull rider, Lane Frost, used to say. He loved it so and said that he was ready to ride a bull. Ha! We said not until your 18! =) Here are some pictures from our weekend there:
